What's Your Testimony?
Updated: Feb 21, 2020

What IS a testimony, anyway? According to Mr. Webster, a testimony is “a public profession of a religious experience”. Another definition is “a statement testifying to benefits received” or “an expression of appreciation”. OK. That’s good, but here’s MY definition of a testimony: “Your own personal & true story about what Jesus has done for you, which you just can’t WAIT to share with someone else!”
It is YOUR story. No one can dispute it. No one can say you’re a liar. Because it happened to you, only you, is unique, and YOU own it! No one can take it away from you, either! Ever!
So why should you share it? Here’s what the Bible says about that:
. Psalm 66:16 – “I will tell of what He (the Lord) has done for my soul.”
. Psalm 118:17 – “(I shall) tell of the works of the Lord”
. Mark 5:19 – (Jesus said) “Go home to your people and report to them what great things the
Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.”
. Luke 19:40 – (Jesus said) ”… if these become silent, the stones will cry out!” (Don’t know
about you, but I don’t want no rock takin’ MY place!)
. Acts 1:8 – (Jesus said) “…you shall be My witnesses…”
Your story is certainly unique, but there is someone else out there that is experiencing or has experienced something similar. (We’re not THAT different, you know.) They may need to hear your story to give them hope for their OWN lives.
Everyone that is a born-again Christian has a story to tell, or a “testimony”. The more people you share your testimony with, the more you will reach with your message of hope. Pray about what God might have you say, & then pray for that “someone” whom God wants to reach through you. Then begin to share. Anywhere you have the opportunity, wherever God opens a door, share! Your testimony should be brief & not include graphic details. You might even want to write it down & memorize it. Remember, it’s not about you, it’s about God! You are telling others about what GOD has done in your life. THAT should be the main focus & purpose of giving a testimony.
You need someone to practice on, to listen to, or read your testimony first? Send me an e-mail! I would love to hear your story about what God has done in your life. I want to encourage you as you seek to make a difference in the lives of those around you. Go on! Get busy!
