Maple Sausage Apple Cheese Balls? Oh yeah!

Updated: Feb 21, 2020

WANT A GREAT RECIPE FOR THE HOLIDAYS? I FOUND ONE!!! My dad loved to cook. And he was good at it, too! So after his passing, I paid close attention to the recipes I found that he had posted on his refrigerator or written on the tablet he kept at the kitchen table. Dad spent many hours researching recipes, trying them out, altering them to make them just right. I tried this one last night. Definitely a keeper! Here goes:

MAPLE SAUSAGE APPLE CHEESE BALLS (That's a mouth full! Wait 'til you TASTE them!)

Ingredients:

1/4 c. Chopped Pecans; 1 Pkg. Jimmy Dean Pork Maple Roll Sausage; 2 c. (8 oz.) Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese; 3/4 c. All-Purpose Baking Mix; 1/3 c. Coarsely grated, peeled Granny Smith Apple; 1/2 tsp. ground Cinnamon

Preheat oven to 375. Cook pecans in small skillet over med. heat 2-3 min. or til toasted. Place in lg. bowl. Add remaining ingredients; mix 'til blended. Shape into 1-inch (or so) balls; place in single layer on lightly greased baking pan. Bake 12-14 min. or 'til done, golden brown. Serve using toothpicks.

I must admit I don't always follow recipes to the letter. Sometimes that's good, sometimes it's not. (hahaha) This time I used walnuts instead of pecans, & Red Delicious apples instead of the Granny Smith (Hey! that's what I had on hand!). Nevertheless, it was STILL yummy! So, it's your call! Enjoy! God bless you always!
